A "Great 'Earthquake' of Social Revolution Comes

When this great "earthquake" of social revolution comes, it will not be a mere handful of anarchists, but an uprising of the people to throw off the great power that is strangling them. Selfishness is at the bottom of the whole matter.

Not Yet, but Soon

For forty years the Armageddon forces have been mustering for both sides of the conflict. Strikes, lockouts and riots, great and small, have been merely incidental skirmishes as the belligerents cross each other's paths. Court and army scandals in Europe, insurance, trust and court scandals in America, have shaken public confidence. Dynamite plots, charged by turns on employees and on employers, have tended to make each distrustful of the other. Bitter and angry feelings on both sides are more and more manifested. The lines of battle are daily becoming more distinctly marked. Nevertheless Armageddon cannot yet be fought. ...

The Image of the Beast must yet receive life—power. It must be transformed [Dxvi] from a mere mechanism to a living force. Protestant Federation realizes that its organization will continue to be futile unless it receives vitalization—unless its clergy directly or indirectly shall be recognized as possessed of apostolic ordination and authority to teach. This, the prophecy indicates, will come from the two-horned Beast, which we believe symbolically represents the Church of England. High-handed activities of Protestantism and Catholicism, operating in conjunction for the suppression of human liberties, await this vivifying of the Image. This may come soon, but Armageddon cannot precede it, but must follow—perhaps a year after, according to our view of the Prophetic Word.

Still another thing intervenes. Although the Jews are gradually flowing into Palestine, gradually obtaining control of the land of Canaan, and although reports say that already nineteen millionaires are there, nevertheless, prophecy requires an evidently larger number of wealthy Hebrews to be there before the Armageddon crisis be reached. Indeed, we understand that "Jacob's trouble" in the Holy Land will come at the very close of Armageddon. Then Messiah's Kingdom will begin to be manifested. Thenceforth Israel in the Land of Promise will gradually rise from the ashes of the past to the grandeur of prophecy. Through its Divinely appointed princes, Messiah's Kingdom, all-powerful, but invisible, will begin to roll away the curse and to lift up mankind, and to give beauty for ashes.

The signs and groanings promised, to precede a second birth;
I read His righteous sentence, in the crumbling thrones of earth;

For a time the wheels of liberty and progress will be turned backward, and mediaeval restraints will be considered necessary for self-preservation, for the maintenance of the present order of things and for the prevention of the new order which God has decreed, the due time for which is at hand. Even those who may be God's people do not stop to consider whether it is His will that things should continue as they have been for the past six thousand years. The Bible says that such is not God's will, but that there is to be a great overthrow, that a new order is coming in.

For a brief time, as we understand the Scriptures, these combined forces of Armageddon will triumph. Free speech, free mails, and other liberties which have come to be the very breath of the masses in our day, will be ruthlessly shut off on the plea of necessity, the glory of God, the commands of the Church, etc. [Editor's Note: False gods of socialism, commands of the Church of atheism would be modern equivalents.]

The safety-valve will be sat upon, and thus will cease to annoy earth's kings with the sound of escaping steam; and all will seem to be serene, until the great social explosiondescribed in the Revelation as an earthquake will take place. In symbolic language an earthquake signifies social revolution, and the Scriptural declaration is that none like it ever before occurred. (Rev. 16: 18, 19). See our Lord's reference to it in Matt. 24: 21.

THE LORD'S GREAT ARMY.

At this juncture, the Scriptures show, Divine Power will step forward, and God will gather the marshaled hosts to Armageddon, to the Mount of Destruction (Rev. 16: 16). The very thing which they sought to avert by their union, federation, etc., will be the very thing that they will hasten. Other Scriptures tell us that God will be represented by Messiah, and that He will be on the side of the masses. "At that time shall Michael [the Godlike One, Messiah] stand up" (Dan. 12: 1). He will assume authority. He will take possession of His Kingdom in a manner little looked for by many of those who erroneously have been claiming to be His Kingdom, and authorized by Him to reign in His name and in His stead.

Our Lord Jesus declared, "His servants ye are unto whom ye render service." Some may be rendering service to Satan and to error, who claim to be rendering service to God and to righteousness; and some may serve ignorantly, as did Saul of Tarsus, who "verily thought that he did God service" in persecuting the Church. ...

As a result of its fevered ragings an the time of trouble, the race will be utterly exhausted and prostrate. It will come to the borders of the Millennial kingdom like a shipwrecked, storm tossed and wave beaten prisoner, who finally by his extreme effort and the waves' violence reaches the shore exhausted and prostrate, to find himself free in a good country, whereas he had expected to reach one of more or less restraint and oppression.

The trouble of the great tribulation surpasses human powers of description adequately to set forth; but it will prove a blessing in disguise, for it will under the Lord's manipulation forever free the human family from Satan's Empire—that kingdom of darkness which so wickedly and cruelly has oppressed and depraved the human family. It will also mellow the proud and willful hearts of men, making them receptive of the arrangement of the Millennial kingdom, which otherwise their pride and willfulness would make unbearable to them. And best of all, it will usher in "the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He shall reign forever and ever." Thus the third purpose of the Millennial Age—the overthrow of Satan's Empire, freeing mankind from the tyranny of the great oppressor—is a consummation devoutly to be desired.

When we see others walking in forbidden paths, in the way of transgressors, we are not to follow them there in order to help them out; but to show them the right path by keeping in it and calling to them. When we see some confusing themselves with doctrines and teachings of men, which we know are fundamentally wrong, we are not to wade through those doctrines in order to help them out; but we are to remind them that the study of any doctrine which will not square with the foundation is not only a misuse of consecrated time, but that all trifling with that which we know to be error is wrong and dangerous, as all violations of conscience and principle are dangerous-Z '05, 203 (R 1860).

The sinner of this passage is in general one who has backslidden, as v. 19 shows. It refers especially to the Great Company, who sinned against their consecration vows. Their course put them continually into danger of going further into willfulness and finally of landing in the Second Death (Heb. 6: 4-6). It has been the privilege of the Lord's people to seek to deliver such from their danger, and thereby to cover with the robe of Christ's righteousness a multitude of the transgressions of the wayward ones-P '33, 79.

Jews have been unjustly blamed for everything imaginable since the beginning of their history. Today many “Christian” people justify being anti-Israel as anti-Zionism rather than antisemitism. They are the same. Israel is still the size of New Jersey, surrounded by seething hatred, with the media favoring Israel’s enemies every time.

How much “control over our media “do YOU think “they” possess?

Christian Anti-Semites, whether knowingly or unwittingly, continue to promulgate the same myths, such as the lie that the media is controlled by Jews, and that it is all very pro-Israel in it’s coverage, when the exact opposite is documented to be true.

You can point out to them the fact that the Arabs have continually shot, stoned, shelled, rocketed and bombed the Jews, including the recent sharpshooting murder of an infant, but to them the Jews have no right to defend themselves, which equates to no right to exist. The Arabs favorite targets are school buses full of children. When has a Jew ever done something so vile? But when they commit the “terrible act” of self-defense, they are attacked for it by those who don’t understand what it must be like to be a people hated and persecuted and nearly exterminated, who have found an island refuge a mere 7 miles wide at the waist, who are totally surrounded and under constant attack.

It can be shown to the Christian anti-Semite how Syrian President Assad himself said how the “Palestinians” were only being used as his personal political and military wedge. It can be shown conclusively that the Arabs have historically attacked the Jews with their armies, and murdered Jews indiscriminately, but it means nothing to them. The Jews can withdraw from land as they did in South Lebanon a year ago, only to be shelled and killed from that very land a year later. And of course, today's effort to defend themselves means they will be considered “evil” by those who are ignorant of the history of the land as well as the true nature of the current situation there.

The complete history of the Jews in the land can be proved that goes back over 3000 years, but it means nothing to the Christian anti-semite. It can be shown in the Christian Bible how God Himself has declared that the land belongs to the Jews, and that He will fight for them, [Zech 14:3] but it means nothing to those who feel a deep jealousy that the Jews have resisted Christian efforts to convert them, an effort which would effectively have destroyed the Jewish identity of the people as a whole if it were successful. These are ignorant of the fact that the Scriptures show that the Jew has a distinct and separate role from that of the Christian as a people, and that they are fulfilling that role and the prophecies written about them now. [see Romans chapter 11]

How sad it is that these Christians will continue to choose to support the forces of darkness in their demonic effort to stamp out the Jewish people, and to prevent their undivided capitol from becoming a reality — a reality that would prove fatal to the plans of the Adversary in his efforts to prevent the inevitable Kingdom of God.

The influence of the world, the flesh and the Adversary tends to fill us with surfeiting and drunkenness and the cares of this life. The attitude of watchfulness is necessary, if such an overcharging is to be prevented. Let us therefore be wakeful, alert, incredulous and studious as to ourselves, our thoughts, motives, words, acts, surroundings and the influences operating upon us, to avoid being overcharged. The overcharged one will surely fail of gaining the reward that is for the diligent and faithful only-P '35, 101.
