Our Premise asks us the following 5 questions.  Do YOU know?

Do You Know that as a result of Antitypical Elijah's failure to convert the world, the predicted curse—the great Time of Trouble by which Society as now constituted is to be destroyed—was to come?—Mal. 4: 6.

Do You Know that this predicted curse had the beginning of its fulfillment in the great World War—a symbolic wind—with accompanying famines and pestilences?—Joel 3: 9-14; Ezek. 14: 21.

Do You Know that this predicted curse will progress in its fulfillment through a world-wide Revolution—a symbolic earthquake—accompanied by still worse famines and pestilences?— Rev. 16: 18, 19.

Do You Know that this predicted curse will end in world-wide Anarchy—a symbolic fire— accompanied by the worst of famines and pestilences?—Mal. 4: 1; 2 Pet. 3: 10-12.

Do You Know that these troubles—the symbolic wind, earthquake, and fire—will be followed by the still small voice God's Kingdom which will bless all nations?

THE EDITOR'S PREFACE.  [PSLJ]
THE TITLE of this, the fourth volume of "THE STUDIES IN THE SCRIPTURES," 

suggests one of the three features of the great tribulation (Rev. 7: 14).
According to Elijah's vision (1 Kings 19: 11, 12), this great tribulation was to have three stages:
(1) the World War (the wind);
(2) the World Revolution or Armageddon (the earthquake); and
(3) the World Anarchy (the fire).

Ezek.14: 13-21 corroborates this with several additions; for by the sword he designates the World War and World Revolution and by the wild beasts he designates the anarchists who in their disregard of law and order are fittingly represented by wild beasts, which, of course, are lawless.

This passage also shows that famine and pestilence will play their part in the great tribulation, intermingling themselves with the above-mentioned three features of the Day of Vengeance.

Rev. 7: 1 by the word "wind" refers to the World War; and Rev. 16: 16-18 by the terms Armageddon and a great earthquake refers to the World Revolution,while 2 Thes. 1: 8 by the term "fire" refers especially to the anarchistic phase of the trouble. Many other Scriptures can be cited and quoted to show these three stages of the time of trouble; but these are sufficient for our present purpose.

It is very remarkable how the positions presented in this book have in part already been verified by their fulfillments; and present world conditions show that the rest are on the way of a quick verification. Our Author, not only in this book, but in numerous others of his writings set forth the thought that the great tribulation would begin in 1914. The World War (1914-1918) was the beginning of this tribulation, which accounts for its being the greatest war of history. We look not for another World War, feared by multitudes; for the first feature of the time of trouble was the World War, and the Scriptures indicate, not another World War, but the World Revolution as the next stage of the great tribulation, ... The 7 row table below shows changes and decay of the social fabric, [worldly institutions], symptoms and causes of decadence, decade by decade from our Lord's Return in 1874 to "The Anarchy" of today which in our humble opinion we are in.  (I Ki 19:12)  We endeavor to chronologically harmonize the four stage "binding of the adversary" and the four "Watches of the Night" with world events. 

DISCLAIMER:  Allow me to use the editorial "We" as I explain, "we" are not a Bible Teacher, just a Bible student.  The following timeline table was compiled on Feb 22, 2016.  It is not complete. It is my own opinion, based on my individual studies.  Feel free to comment and share. We make it available online before being fully completed to present it as an open study others may enjoy. Please forgive our mistakes but you are welcome to correct our errors. We will be adding and subtracting as more is correctly understood in this shining light of the Epiphany. II Thes 2:8

rcb notes:  2034 is the date arrived at using the four stages of 40 years each concept derived from the fact that Bro. Johnson explained the first stage of the binding of Satan as a period of time from 1874 to 1914, and also expected the next period to last from 1914 to 1954 as the "second stage" of the binding.  He did not continue on the topic where I was reading.  Projecting forward we arrive at the dates of 1994 and then finally 2034.  The following doc is based on that chronology.  IF it turns out we use 41 years and 8 month periods instead, as has been suggested[*see JJH "3rd Watch*] then we would adjust our dates accordingly.  The events listed below are listed merely of personal interest as regards the degradation of society into anarchy, and not because of any chronological importance, Scripturally speaking.  So Elvis Presley didn't perhaps start Armageddon, but sure was part of the "to and fro" of Dan 12.

The following time chart shows plague of decay of the social fabric, [worldly institutions] symptoms of growing decadence decade by decade from 1874 on.  We have 4 night watches included, OR 3 night watches.  Is this a 160 year period? or a 120 year period? NOTE: We also have 4 Seasons:  "Pray that your flight be not in winter"..."summer is ended and we are not saved"...etc.  Those I included without knowing if it works, as a side note to be clarified later.

Smith’s Bible Dictionary re: “Watches of night ”

Watches of night : The Jews, like the Greeks and Romans, divided the night into military watches instead of hours, each watch representing the period for which sentinels or pickets remained on duty. The proper Jewish reckoning recognized only three such watches, entitled the first or "beginning of the watches," (Lamentations 2:19) the middle watch, (Judges 7:19) and the morning watch. (Exodus 14:24; 1 Samuel 11:11) These would last respectively from sunset to 10 P.M.; from 10 P.M. to 2 A.M.; and from 2 A.M. to sunrise. After the establishment of the Roman supremacy, the number of watches was increased to four, which were described either according to their numerical order, as in the case of the "fourth watch," (Matthew 14:25) or by the terms "even," "midnight," "cock-crowing" and "morning." (Mark 13:35) These terminated respectively at 9 P.M., midnight, 3 A.M. and 6 A.M.

The news of the discomfiture of the hosts of Gog and Magog, and of the wonderful deliverance of Israel from their enemies, will be speedily followed by the news of the appearance of their renowned “fathers,” resurrected, and the estab­lishment of a government with these at its head, and of the general conversion of Israel to the long rejected Messiah.
